Melbourne Dj Hire sent one of our experienced DJs and roaming photographers to a 30th Birthday celebration at the Bells Hotel in South Melbourne. This venue was really a true gem as the designers have kept the original look of the venue but also was freshly renovated with a modern touch, the venue was large and had tonnes of character. The Bells Hotel is conveniently situated off the busy Clarendon St so it is easily accessible via public transport and the is also plenty of parking near-by. There are also multiple function spaces available for hire as well with a couple of rooftop function spaces overlooking the Melbourne city skyline and a number of enclosed indoor function spaces of different sizes, scattered all over the venue.
The function space we were booked to work in was the rooftop bar, the venue space was the perfect space to hold an event in the afternoon and evening as you got to see the Melbourne Skyline and also get the open rooftop with the fresh air and the breeze coming through the space. Rooftop bars are not only look great and have a priceless view, but they are also a good option for parties that have a lot of smokers attending. All the guests who were smokers got to stay at the party instead of heading out onto the street to have their cigarette break.
The only downside to a rooftop function space is the weather. This rooftop bar at The Bells Hotel didn’t have any shelter, so if it did rain the function would have to be moved to another spot. Rooftop bars are a great space to be on a warm summers night, but they can be very cold in winter. The Bells Hotel have organised a lot of large umbrellas and portable heaters for those situations though.
So if you are looking to book a venue close to the city, The Bells Hotel would be a great option. The interior design is very impressive and there are a number of function spaces that could fit any size of event.
