When you book a venue make sure is has the potential to be a cosy place that people would like to stay in. There was a venue Melbourne DJ hire worked at while ago and even though the venue was very large and fit a lot of family and friends in, the venue felt like a large cold hall it was hard for people to want to mingle because of the way the tables were set out. Even though it was a big space, the way the venue layed out the tables meant that it was hard for the guests to get out of their seats. The outside smoking area had an abundance of chairs and benches for people to sit on so a lot of the guests actually stayed outside and didn’t come back into the party.

We find that rows of tables are the worst configuration for guests as there is amongst miter amount of people that they can talk to but it is also hard for people to walk to the toilet or the dancefloor as they have to walk all the way to the end of the row of tables.

Function rooms that are have lots of little separate rooms are also not the best as people need to take that extra step into the dancefloor or the bar. When guests see a friend of other guest dancing they will be more inclined to dance or have fun. If the party is hidden away in different rooms it’s hard for people to get into the mood.
