Spotify Playlist or DJ
Melbourne DJ Hire’s partnering photobooth company recently worked at an event where the organisers chose to use Spotify as music instead of hiring a Melbourne DJ. The event was a university ball, and the organisers must have had some budget restraints. We have worked at a lot of events where some clients have had to pick between a Melbourne Dj or Spotify. For atmosphere and control of music and a smooth-running event, we would always suggest hiring a Melbourne DJ to take care of all the sound and lighting of the event. The issue with running the music through Spotify is that sometimes, particular songs may not work, they might be of a low tempo and not mix it smoothly with the last song that was played.
It is also hard for the guest to request songs if you are using Spotify, no one would know who is in control of the music, but if there was a DJ playing, everyone would know to go up to the DJ to request a song. Another reason whether you choose a Dj or Spotify is that the DJ will bring all this sound and lighting gear with a mic, everything will be set up and there will be nothing the organiser needs to worry about on the night. The Dj will have all the song list, they will know when speeches and formalities are and have the right lighting equipment to give a party mode on the dancefloor. Using Spotify means that your music will be connected to the in-house sound system of the venue which isn’t always of the best quality, the venue usually doesn’t have any special lighting for the dancefloor so the dancefloor vibe will be lacking that party atmosphere.
So here are some reasons as to why you should pick a DJ or Spotify, there are huge benefits of hiring a Melbourne DJ, sound quality, ease of requesting songs on the night, party atmosphere and a smooth-running event as the Dj will take care of sound and music for you. Spotify could save you some money especially if you already have a tight budget but the dancefloor atmosphere will definitely not be the same.
