THINGS NOT TO SAY TO A DJ
At Melbourne DJ hire we get some odd requests, we also get asked a lot of questions that are a little silly. Here are a list of things you should never say to a DJ
1. PLAY SOMETHING GOOD… NO ONE CAN DANCE TO THIS
The DJ has to play for more than one person so what you hate may be someone else’s favourite song and usually when someone says this to us Melbourne DJs we tell them to turn around and there will be people dancing to it
2. WOULD YOU PLAY SOMETHING WITH A BEAT
Every song has a beat, so this question is so wrong
3. I DON’T KNOW WHO SINGS IT AND I DON’T KNOW THE NAME OF THE SONG BUT IT GOES LIKE THIS ….
Don’t sing the song for the Melbourne DJ, the put up with flashing lights, loud noise, drunk people all night long… Do them a favour and don’t sing to them.
4. EVERYBODY WANTS TO HERE IT!
Are you sure? You can’t have asked everyone at the venue if they want to hear that song?
5. EVERYBODY WILL DANCE IF YOU PLAY IT
Again… Are you sure? Not everyone wants to hear your favourite song
6. I WANT TO HERE IT NEXT
The ONLY people who can get away with that statement are the ones paying Melbourne DJ hire
7. WHAT DO YOU HAVE?
Our Melbourne DJs have years of experience how long do you have for us to tell you every single song we have. Go to the bar, have a drink and think about what song you would like to hear next, most likely we will have the song in our collection
8. HEY MR DJ NOBODY CAN DANCE TO THIS
Its not advisable to say this to a DJ especially when the dance floor is packed but some party people still say it. There is a beat in every song and whenever there is a beat you can dance
9. PLAY IT SOON BECAUSE WE ARE LEAVING
If your going to leave after the DJ plays it then why shouldn’t he or she wait to the very last song he will be making his employer happy because you will stay and buy more drinks or you will stay at the party longer and the client will be having a great time with a filled up room. So you can stay all night!
10. I CAN HOOK UP WITH THAT HOT CHICK IF YOU PLAY IT
The DJ needs to look after the whole room and the whole crowd so there are a lot of people on the dancefloor. You hooking up is our last concern
SPECIAL NOTE
Try to be specifc in what you say to the DJ also be polite, they deal with long nights and drunk people all the time. We are always more then willing to play your request. Just remember that your song may not be the right one to play at the time.
