Bands vs Djs
Melbourne Dj Hire’s photobooth company Beauty and the Booth recently worked at a corporate Christmas party were a band was booked to provide the entertainment. The advantages of the band is the lively atmosphere, it is almost like being at a concert and you are singing along to the popular tracks of the singers. The disadvantages of a band is that there are not playing the whole time during the function as the performers need to take breaks between their sets.
At this particular function, the performers came early to set up and do sound check. Then they only started performing 45 minutes after the guests arrived. They then sang for 30minutes and took another 30 minute break. During the break they had organised some upbeat music which people did dance to, but because it was a prerecorded song list some of the tracks were not received well from the guests. Tones and I and Senorita were very popular but then the song list jumped to a song that was unknown and everyone sat down again.
If a Melbourne Dj was hired to play music for the guests then he would be playing music for the whole duration of the event. Once the dancefloor starts getting busy then our Melbourne Dj would gauge the type of songs that were working and keep playing that genre to try to keep guests on the dancefloor. When a band is taking a break there is no one entertaining the guests.
Another disadvantage of a band is that they are expensive. There are generally 4 members in a band, a singer, a guitarist, a drummer and a bass player and you will have to play for every member. Which could add up to $2000.
So they are a couple of disadvantages to booking a band. They bring a great atmosphere to an event but a Melbourne Dj can play for the whole duration of the event and are a lot more affordable to book.
