Boat Party
Melbourne DJ Hire finally had our first booking since the first Coronavirus lockdown in March. We sent one of our Melbourne DJs to a 18th birthday party that was held on a boat. There were 20 guests aboard on the boat party and the parents just wanted to organise something fun for the birthday boy and his friends. The boat was large enough to have 120 passengers on board but since each venue space now has a maximum capacity based on the 4 square metre rule, only 20 passengers were allowed on board.
A boat party or a boat wedding was very popular before the pandemic, they were well priced and gave that extra wow factor to an event, guests had to stay in the boat and couldn’t wonder off downstairs for a smoke or look around the venue gardens for hours. So, it was a great way to keep all the guests together at the party. But since Covid 19 social distancing rules must be applied to every venue, a boat party may not be very cost effective. A boat party company will have a base price to charge due to the running of the boat for the night, the captain, the bar staff, the catering staff, and security staff. A party that would usually cost $40 per head could now skyrocket to $100 per head. But even with this price spike, there are parents and event organisers who would still happily pay that price for their loved ones to have a good time.
Our Melbourne DJ Jack had a great time playing at this boat party and it was great to get out there into the party world again and see people laughing and dancing and just enjoying life. The dancefloor always had someone on it and because it was such a small crowd, every guest got to request a song and have a dance to it. So even though this wasn’t a party with a lot of people, it was still full of dancing and partying.
