Covid Lockdown Gatherings

The last few weeks have been very tough for all Australians. Due to the Covid lockdown gatherings rule the ability to head out and grab a coffee, to head down to the shops just to have a look around, the freedom to catch up with a friend for a chat or even just to take your children to visit their grandparents. That was all taken away from us to try to slow the spread of the virus.  

Before the strict covid lockdown gathering rules were applied, Melbourne Dj Hire were prepared for a slow season. A lot of our clients were postponing there events due to the concerns of the Covid 19 virus. Some clients were cancelling for the safety of their elderly guests. Then in mid March the government announced that there would be a ban on gatherings of more than 100 people. That meant that our Melbourne Djs could still work at house parties for birthdays and engagement parties. We could still send our Melbourne Djs to the smaller scale weddings and also small corporate events. 

But then one week later at the end of March the government put a ban on all non essential gatherings. That meant that overnight, Melbourne Dj Hire’s income stopped all together and not only did the bookings stop coming in. A few of our clients cancelled their events. Even though our terms and conditions state that all deposits are non refundable, the team at Melbourne Dj Hire made the decision to refund the clients who couldn’t postpone their events. 

Most of our wedding clients have postponed their events, some birthday parties have postponed and we have told our Melbourne Djs to expect to the working at a lot of 51st, 61sts and so on. Some of our corporate clients who organised large scale public events have postponed to later in the year. So hopefully, this springtime will mean there will be a rise in outdoor gatherings for everyone to enjoy. We also expect there will be a lot of parties next year when people finally get to head out and celebrate with their loved ones.
