Melbourne Dj hire’s photobooth company Beauty and the Booth recently ran a three hour photobooth session every day for a week at RMIT University. The photo booth was set up from 11am til 2pm the perfect time when students are coming in and out of classes and taking a break to have lunch.
It wasn’t so much an event. There was no Melbourne Dj, no food stalls, no freebies. It was just a photobooth, a large blank wall and some different coloured postcards where students could write a message. The objective was to create a photo wall of students and staff and also get them to write a message about their favourite memory at RMIT. The photobooth was mainly booked for the graduates of 2018 and for them to have a momento of their days at RMIT.
Melbourne Dj hire have worked at a lot of uni events and we think that RMIT is probably the toughest uni to get a crowd of students together. The university is located in the heart of the city, the students don’t have to stay at on the campus to get food when Melbourne central, Q.V. and Chinatown is just a short walk away. Our photobooth attendants did work hard to engage students to use the booth and we ended up taking over 200 sessions.
Melbourne Dj hire have worked at a lot of public events and the best ways to promote an event and to get lots of engagement are signs and free stuff! Sign that say ‘free photobooth’, ‘ free barbecue’ and so on. Then you have staff or volunteers on hand to explain to students why you are running this event. There is a Melbourne university we work at a lot, there is always a free sausage sizzle when they run an event on promotion and it really generates a large crowd in the campus square.
