Event Presentation
Event Presentations
The staff at Melbourne DJ Hire have witnessed hundreds of speeches and we know the difference between a good speech and a bad one. We have even heard some brilliant ones over the years that have been engaged all guests and even made our staff laugh and get a little teary. So here are some tips on how to write a good speech or even make an interesting event presentation.
First tip is to keep it at an appropriate length. There are so many events where the speeches are just dragged out so long, the dad, mum or sister might have pages and pages of the speech and after that speech has finished there are 3 more people in line to do their speech. Or the family members will create a really sweet PowerPoint presentation and include hundreds of photos, guests do love looking at these photos but our Melbourne Djs have noticed that these photos work a lot better in the background. Guests can still look at these photos and tell stories about the birthday person and still get to socialist with other party guests.
Second tip is for the speaker to add a couple of funny moments into the speech and then finish the speech with something sentimental and heart felt.
Third and final tip is that we strongly recommend reading over the speech a couple of times to know when to pause and take a breath. There have been countless times when the best man or sibling has not read through the speech prior and the nerves have really gotten to them.
So overall try to keep all of the speeches to under 20 minutes or guests tend to get a little restless, quality over quantity is key. Powerpoint family albums are sweet but they are just as effective running in the background during the event. Last and certainty not least practice your speech, there is nothing worse than stumbling over your words when all eyes are on you.
