Most people dont know it but pick the right venue for a party isn’t always about how it looks and how fancy it is. Melbourne DJ hire have worked at a lot of venues that dont have the best configuration for a party atmosphere. For example one night we sent out one of our best Melbourne Djs for a job at a sports club, the venue was very large and catered to a large number of people. The tables we set up in long rows and it almost looked like a dining hall for a school camp. Because it was set out in the layout it is hard for people to get out of their seats and walk to the dancefloor, walk to the bathrooms, or walk around and socialise because they would have to get out and squeeze through a row of people to move around the venue and once people are seated they are comfortable so it’s quite hard to get them out their seat. This is a big issue we see at sit down weddings and events.
The second issue was there were a lot of guests who smoked and so a large group of the guests would head outside to smoke, but the problem was that on the outside of the venue they had set up a large number of benches. So who ever went outside stayed outside for a while because it was so comfortable and convenient. Therefore not a lot of people were inside this massive hall, not a lot of people were dancing. The client requested a lot of music which their friends would have liked but they were all outside the venue so our staff from Melbourne Dj Hire played a lot of music which catered for the older guests that were still in the room.
What is also important is a venue that can dim down the lights or turn off the lights on the dancefloor to create more of a party atmosphere. Some venues are too busy catering and clearing drinks to remember to turn down the lights so a lot of the time our Melbourne party Dj have to step in and remind them. We have been Djing in Melbourne for a very long time and most people do not dance when all there are bright lights.
So the main rules are pick a venue that is cozy, make sure people can move around freely, if you have a lot of guests who are smokers make sure the smoking area doesnt have a large number of seating so you dont lose your guests to the outside space. Last but not least make sure the venue turns off the lights.
