MC Duties
Over the last couple of months, a handful of clients have asked Melbourne DJ Hire if we provide MC duties. The answer is yes, we do provide MC services, however that is at an added cost and it is usually weddings that request our Melbourne DJs to carry out the MC duties. When we are MCs at a wedding, our Djs will welcome the guests to the wedding, then we will announce the bridal party, then announce some basic house keeping, announce when the first dance and speeches will be on and any other requests that may come up. But please note, we provide basic MC services, not hosting duties.
However, some of our party clients who are throwing just a birthday have also asked ask whether or not our Melbourne DJs will MC at their birthday party and the answer to that is no. We include a microphone in the package to be used for speeches and we can make quick announcements throughout the night to remind guests that the bar will be closing or to encourage guests to use the photobooth. However our Melbourne DJs are not there to entertain and run the night, we are mainly there to play the right music for the crowd.
Since our Melbourne DJs have close access to the mic and speakers, it is easier for them to make quick announcements like the bar or buffet is open, the photobooth will be closing in 1 hour or its time for speeches. We have noticed that this makes it a little easier for the hosts to communicate with all their guests at once. Other contractors like the photobooth attendants or entertainers also ask our Melbourne DJs to make short announcements and shout outs to the crowd.
If you would like an MC at a birthday party it would be best to ask a family or close friend who know the couple or birthday person who are funny to host the night. They will have personal stories that will connect with the crowd as opposed to our Melbourne Dj who will only make the shorter announcements. So, we hope this clears the question for some of our clients regarding MC duties.
