Melbourne Dj hire and Beauty and the Booth are based in Melbourne’s south eastern suburb of Moorabbin. We feel like our Melbourne Djs have been to every venue in the area. So when one day we had an booking for a venue called Okie Dokie in the industrial area of Braeside we were interested to see what type of function space this was.
When our photobooth attendant showed up at the address it looked like a lot of industrial garage spaces. How could a fun Mexican themed party be here? But when we looked closer we saw one of the garages with a sleek clean design with the words Okie Dokie. Then we were blown away when we walked in. The foyer was decorated with fairy lights and candles, the entrance to the function space had a frame decorated with fairy lights and vine leaves. Perfect for a photography backdrop.
When you enter Okie Dokie it looks like a vintage caravan has driven into the function space. This caravan is where all the food comes from. The venue made a range of sliders, fish and chips and also a taco spread for the evening. Then on the left of the space looks like a seperate large shipping container which is used for a seating zone. And again perfectly lit with a whole wall of fairy lights.
The back end of the dance floor where the Melbourne Dj set up was framed again with an arch decorated with vine leaves and fairy lights. And the whole dance floor was lit with ambient hanging lights. Our clients also hired a saxophonist to come in and play some music along with the Melbourne DJ.
Okie Dokie is a very trendy space with a little bit of a Mexican vibe but also pretty enough to host weddings and can definitely host non Mexican themed events. The staff were extremely helpful and Melbourne Dj hire are looking forward to working there again.
