Refund Policies
As you may or may not have seen on the news and current affairs programs, there recently been several news stories that are reporting about venues and contractors refund policies. Due to the Covid 19 pandemic a lot of people have had to cancel or postpone their events due to the banning of non-essential gatherings. As a result of this restriction, venues have also had to close their doors, contractors like musicians, Melbourne Djs, photographers, photobooth operators and many others in the entertainment and hospitality industry have also been impacted.
Since the restrictions were put in place, there has been a lot of negative press regarding venues and their refund policies. All venues and entertainment contractors would have a no refund policy to protect themselves from clients cancelling their bookings. As an industry who relies on working at events, every contractor blocks out that booking date so that we can be available to work, therefore it is so important to have a non-refundable deposit. Venues have a lot of overheads, there is a lot of costs involved to maintain their grounds and property, there are a lot of administration staff that would have worked many hours liaising with clients to secure the booking and not to mention their mortgage or rent for the building. It is understandable that venues would prefer to keep their payments as credit for a future booking, but partial refunds minus the hours of work spent per event should also be acceptable for clients.
Melbourne DJ Hire have received countless emails from clients who need to postpone their event. In a situation like the Coronavirus pandemic, we are happy to hold their payment as credit for their future event. But there have also been a handful of clients who are not planning to go ahead with their event at all. Some clients who wanted to throw a birthday party have now decided to cancel their event all together, in this unique situation Melbourne DJ Hire have made the decision to give those clients a refund of their payment.
