Song Requests

At every single function our Melbourne DJs work at, there is always a handful of people who keep coming up asking for song requests. Most of the time, Melbourne DJ Hire welcomes these song requests, we even encourage our clients to put together a list of songs they would like us to play. Recently, we have even requested the clients to split up the list into two groups, one list for the songs they would like played towards the start of the night and another list for dancing.

When the client sends us their songlist, it is pretty obvious what type of music they would like played on the night. It could be a mix of songs from the 80s, 90s and 2000s with a mix of genres. Our it could be a mix of RnB or some clients like popular rock songs. These personal song selections give our Melbourne DJs a great idea of the demographic and age group of the guests and help us create a great music experience on the night.

There are some other Melbourne DJs out there who have started displaying an ipad for guests to type in their song requests, and that is a good system to use so that the DJs don’t get distracted while they are in the middle of mixing a song in. Some of our Djs, have a sign or mini banner where guests can scan the QR code and send their song requests to the DJ directly. However, there are times when guests put in songs that really will not work during a dance break, our Melbourne Djs play popular upbeat bangers and anthems and if someone requests a slow and chill song it will just send most guests off the dancefloor.

So if you would like your guests to request songs at the party, just be aware that some songs may not work within the timing of the party and our Melbourne DJ could suggest an alternative song by the same artist or genre.
