Cocktail party or Sit Down Dinner
It can be a bit of a dilemma trying to pick which style of party you would like to organise for your party. You could either do a cocktail party or a sit down dinner. Melbourne Dj hire have worked at both styles of parties and some work better than the other depending on the group of people you are inviting.
If you are organising a small intimate party with less than 40 people then a sit down dinner is the way to go. You can set up 4 tables with 10 seats around them. If you have a party that small then a Melbourne Dj isn’t very necessary, but a photobooth would be a great idea to get people up from their seats and moving around the room. It is a great way to keep guests entertained and they will also get some nice mementos to take home in the form of a photostrip.
If you are having a party and will be inviting a lot of guests over 50 then a sit down dinner would be appropriate as well. Our Melbourne Djs have worked at 60th and 70th birthdays where it was a sit down lunch or dinner then after everyone’s meals the would be some class tracks and rock and roll music. Some mixed crowds can have a mix of sit down round tables and also some bar tables where guests can stand around. Melbourne Dj hire have worked at 21st birthday parties where there have been a lot of older family members, the venue then set up some round tables on the far side of the room where it is a little more quiet.
When deciding on whether to have a cocktail party or sit down dinner layout you also need to keep in mind that once guests sit down at there seats, they do get comfortable and sometimes they don’t want to get up off their seats and dance or mingle. But if it is at a cocktail style party they guests are already up, they might walk over to the bar to get drink and they are always moving around. So Melbourne Dj hire have noticed that the cocktail parties can have a more lively atmosphere.
