Costume Party
Our staff work at a lot of costume parties, we have pretty much seen all the types of costume parties out there, Great Gatsby, 80’s, James Bond and so much more. But over the weekend Melbourne Dj Hire worked at a costume party theme that was a first! The client had booked our Melbourne DJ and our photographer to work their event, but once we arrived, we didn’t know that the costume party theme was. The client was dressed up as God with large angelic wings, her husband was dressed as the devil in a red suit, there were a lot of Steve Irwins, some Olivia Newton Johns, Michael Jacksons, Audrey Hepburns, Cleopatra and a Princess Leia. We were wondering if it was just a potluck costume party and then we realised that it was a costume party for everyone who was in heaven.
It was a well-planned out party and the birthday girl and her mum put a lot of thought into the decorations and set up of the party. There was a photo wall where they had set up fairy lights and some pegs and a polaroid camera. The guests were to bring a print out of their character and take a photo of themselves in their costume and attach it next to their print out. The family home was also completely transformed, all the lounges and couches were moved out of the space to make room for a large dancefloor and our Melbourne Djs set up. The outdoor entertaining area was also moved so that a large balloon garland backdrop could be set up to take photos.
The mums and aunties were in the kitchen organising the food and the clients had hired a mobile bar set up to make cocktails and drinks for the guests. If you have the budget for a mobile bar, it can be a great addition for your party, the guests have a cocktail menu they can order from and they don’t have to worry about pouring their own drinks and the hosts don’t need to worry about clearing glasses as the bar staff all look after that. Overall it was a great party and all the effort that was put into planning the night was worth it as everyone looked great and had an amazing night.
