Entertainment For An Older Crowd
Melbourne DJ Hire worked at a corporate event over the weekend where a majority of the crowd was over 50. It was the 15 year anniversary of a large manufacturing company and the owners had decided to organise a nice dinner celebration for their clients, staff and investors. There were a number of guests who were in their 70s and 80s who would enjoy having a dance for a while but would not be on the dancefloor for a long length of time. When our Melbourne DJs are booked for an event with older crowds we will play songs from the 60s and 70s but we do find that the older guests do need a sit down after some time on the dancefloor. Thankfully for this job the client had booked a magician for some entertainment for the older guests and it was also suitable for the younger guests as well.
Booking entertainment for an older crowd is a great idea as the older guests usually end up sitting in a quiet spot away from the music or they will end up leaving early as all the younger guests are dancing. Our clients booking the magician to start his show just after the mains finished and the show ran for about 30-40 minutes. Guests of all ages were entertained and the magician also called up some guests as volunteers for his magic tricks. Not only were the magic tricks impressive he was also very fun and told jokes which made for some great candid photos.
One of our other clients who had a 70th birthday had booked some interesting entertainment for their older crowd. He had booked a ladies singing group to come in and sing some popular songs from the 50s, 60s and 70s, the group wore matching vintage dresses and had their hair and make up done to suit the era. The guests loved sitting back and enjoying the music and dance.
So if you are booking a Melbourne DJ but would also like to hire some extra entertainment for the older crowd then maybe you could look into a magic show, a band or even some other form of entertainment. It would make it a memorable day for the guests.
