Song Lists
If you have booked Melbourne DJ Hire for an upcoming event, we would suggest that you provide us with a song list for the night. Having a song list provided by the client helps our Melbourne Djs get a feel for what the crowd likes to hear and just because we are working at the 50th birthday doesn’t mean that we will be playing 80s tracks for the whole night.
When it comes to picking a song list, it can be very enticing to pick all of the favourite songs that the client likes. Our Melbourne DJ Hire worked at a 16th birthday where the birthday boy had sent us a long list of hard, heavy rap songs and only wanted the Dj to play songs from his song list. The songs were not popular songs so not everyone knew the music and no one was dancing. Our Melbourne DJ then started playing some more popular songs like LMFAO, Beyonce, Usher, Eminem and Black Eyed Peas and more people started dancing. If there is a genre that the client would like played, then our Dj can definitely work with that genre and still play great tracks that get people on the dance floor.
At a wedding we worked at, the client provided a song list that mainly included slow beat pop songs. They were still great songs that everybody know but they didn’t give the same energy as the songs our Melbourne DJ would have chosen. After our DJ started playing some more up-tempo songs from The Eurhythmics, ABBA, Whitney Houston, Cindy Lauper, Bruno Mars and the Bee Gees then a lot more people started getting on the dance and the party really kicked off after that.
So when it comes to creating your song list it is very important to select songs that are popular that everyone is familiar with, but it is just as important to pick songs that are upbeat with a high energy to get everyone onto the dance floor.
