Cocktail Weddings

Cocktail weddings used to be a very popular style of event for couples, they are low key, casual and very relaxed. Guests got the opportunity to mingle without being restricted to their tables. But with the new Covid safe restrictions, cocktail weddings will not be the same as what they used to be. 

If couples do not wish to have a formal sit down reception, they can still hold a casual style cocktail like wedding. But seating will still need to be set up. Seating like lounges and bar tables can still be set up around the space for people to sit and have a chat and also be served food. Guests can also head to the bar to order their drinks as long as the socially distance while waiting for their order and then sit down once they have their drinks. 

Melbourne Dj Hire does understand that it seems a little restrictive to stay seated at a cocktail wedding. But our Melbourne Dj have worked at a lot of cocktail weddings and we have seen first hand how much fun people can have at cocktail weddings. When guests are restricted to their own tables and seats at a formal sit down dinner they don’t really get the opportunity to mingle with a lot of the other guests, formal sit down dinners also have a lot of formalities and a lot of time where people have to be stuck at their table. Cocktail weddings on the other hand gives people the option of moving around the venue, therefore the ability to catch up with other guests they might not have seen for a while. 

Melbourne Dj Hire also notices that the dance floor starts a lot earlier in the night during cocktail weddings. Guests are already walking up and about the party and because they have been in that relaxed state for longer they are more likely to be in the mood to dance rather than staying comfortable at their tables. So even though cocktail weddings do have the seating restrictions in place, please don’t let that deter you from planning your low key wedding!
