Dry Weddings
Melbourne Dj Hire have worked at a few ‘Dry Weddings’ before and they are weddings where alcohol is not served. Couples may organise dry weddings for religious or cultural purposes but even though there is no alcohol served, guests still have a great time.
Most of the dry weddings our Melbourne Djs work at are day time weddings. The couples have the reception in the late morning and then hold a lunchtime reception for their loved ones. There is still music and dancing but it is definitely more low key and less rowdy and wild compared to a night time wedding.
There have also been a lot of Muslim weddings we have worked at where it has been a dry event. These cultural weddings have a big element of dance and theatrics so guests don’t need any alcohol to get in the party mood. Our Melbourne Dj once worked at a Muslim wedding where there were fireworks set up when the couple entered the reception. Then there were drummers that surrounded the dance floor so there was so much energy coming from the drummers that guests naturally wanted to get on the dance floor for the cultural dancing.
One of our brides are organising a very small intimate dry wedding in the afternoon and she is setting up a mock-tail bar and also a gelato cart for her guests. She is holding her wedding at a garden, where the ceremony and the lunch will be held, there will be no Melbourne Dj but there will be a band and our photographer will be shooting the lovely afternoon event. Setting up extra attractions like a mock tail bar and gelato cart is a great idea for afternoon weddings and dry events as people can still enjoy a pleasant drink and ice cream. Instead of getting intoxicated, guest could sample all the different flavours of drink and gelato all afternoon and that sounds like a pretty special wedding even if there is no alcohol in site.
