Guest funded wedding
Weddings are one the most expensive costs in anyone’s life. When you think about the cost of living, the cost of housing and the cost to raise a family it is no wonder why Melbourne Dj hire have noticed that people are spending less and less money on their weddings these day. Our Melbourne Djs are now playing at weddings with a very low key and casual venue, some have a small guest list and some are even at home.
But most recently our Melbourne Dj worked at a wedding which was a guest funded wedding. Sounds too good to be true right? Our client was actually the sisters of the groom. The young couple had recently purchased a house and couldn’t afford a wedding therefore just got married at the registry. The family wanted to help the lucky couple out and they all decided to chip in to help fund the celebration.
This guest funded wedding was held at one of the parents house was had a large backyard and outdoor entertaining area. The food was half catering and half the food was made by family and friends. Pots of curry, casseroles, salads, rice and family favourite desserts were laid out on a large table setting and guests could get a plate and help themselves to the food. The catering staff walked around at the start with some finger food and then towards the end they were in charge of tidying up the space by clearing bottles, plates and rubbish.
A guest funded wedding may seem a little awkward. How can you ask for guests to help you pay for your wedding? But at this wedding, Melbourne Dj hire didn’t find it awkward at all, during the speeches the bride and groom thanked everyone who helped with the party and got very emotional over how much love and support was in the room and that a wedding is all about spending time with the most important people in your life other than spending money on a flashy venue, flowers, cars and more.
