How To Create A Song List
When you book a DJ with Melbourne DJ Hire, we will tell you to send us a song list. This could be either be a list of song names and artists or it could also be a list of songs from a Spotify playlist. Some clients send us over 100 songs and that is too many songs to be played in the entire night, so usually for around 15-20 songs that the client would definitely like us to play. When our Melbourne DJs have seen the playlist, we can usually get a feel for what type of music genre they would like.
For example, some clients will send us a mix of rnb and some mix of songs from the 80’s and 90’s so that the parents and older guests can join in on the dance floor as well. There are some parties like a 21st where the clients would only like us to play rnb to suit a younger crowd. Some clients who are really passionate about their music selection have a large list of music on their song list because they want to hear particular songs at their party. So when we are presented with these large song lists, we ask the clients to split up the songs into 2 sections. Songs that they would like played at the start of the evening when guests are mingling and chatting and then songs that they would like played towards the second part of the night where people will be dancing and usually, we would also suggest popular, up-tempo songs to be played during the dance set.How you create your song lists is an important part of the event. If you choose songs that only you like and nobody knows or connects to the song then you run the risk of no one dancing at the party.
