Melbourne DJ Hire worked at a cocktail event over the weekend where the venue had a lavish menu and numerous catering options. The venue also had a wood fired pizza oven so there were a lot of pizza options as well. The family wanted to put on a great spread for their guests and had booked so many great options for their guests. Bruschetta, sushi, fish nuggets, chicken skewers, mini pies and sausage rolls. But the clients also ordered a lamb kebab for every guest! Some of the guests were so happy to tuck into the big roll of lamb but some guests were already full from the finger food that came out earlier in the night.
When it comes to a party, the best type of catering for a cocktail event is finger food that is small and easy to pick up and eat. Guests are usually standing and mingling and chatting so small mouthfuls of food every now and then is the perfect menu. When it comes to burgers, kebabs, bowls of noodles or rice, that guests awkward especially if guests are standing and also holding a drink. If you have more of a relaxed vibe to the party and their are ample seating and spaces for guests to sit down to have their meal you will have a lot more options on your catering menu.
If you know you have a big guestlist and the budget, you can even hire a food truck to come to your event. A lot of schools hire food trucks to come to their graduation parties and formals. We have even worked at some workplaces who have organised a family day or Christmas party and they have organised a food truck to cater the event. It is a fun novelty and a great experience for the staff and if their are kids at the party, they love receiving a meal from the food truck. Ice cream vans are also a massive hit at any event.
