Postponing An Event
Should You Postpone Your Event
So we all know that Melbourne is in lockdown for another week. What we don’t know is how long this fourth lockdown is going to last. A lot of brides and other party organisers are deciding on whether or not they should postpone their early June functions. In the entertainment and functions industry, most businesses ask for a deposit to secure the availability of that date, then a week or two before the event the client is to make the final payment. It is a stressful situation to be in, clients plan their weddings for months on end and to postpone their event because of a ‘potential’ lockdown is a risky thing to do. Do you play it safe and reschedule to another date or do you take the risk and go ahead with the event anyway?
A lot of clients are watching the number of cases and have based their decision on that. There have only been 5-6 cases since the start of the lockdown and a lot of these party planners have hope that this lockdown will only last for one week. Other clients are not willing to take that risk and have just decided to postpone their event.
During the February lockdown, Melbourne Dj Hire had a couple of clients plan a very impromptu wedding on the day of the snap lockdown announcement. Once the lockdown for the next day was announced, one bride contacted all of her contractors and asked if they were available that same evening. She then contacted all of her guest and told them that the wedding will now be held that evening at a local function venue. Of course, not all her guests were able to make it on such short notice but a majority of people were able to come to the wedding. She managed to pull off this event in such a short time and everyone took that opportunity to party hard before a full week of being in lockdown.
