What Songs To Request
Melbourne Dj Hire play at a lot of different functions and a majority of the time, there is a large mix of people at the function. There are older guests, middle age guests, young guests and even some kids at the event. It is hard to get everyone on the dancefloor and keep everyone happy. The reason why Melbourne DJ Hire is so popular is because our go to playlists are packed full of super popular tracks that everyone knows.
If there is a mixed crowd then the Melbourne DJ will have a play from a mixed song list, we will play a bit of ABBA, Michael Jackson, Usher, Bruno Mars, Whitney Houston and more. These popular songs that a majority of the crowd knows will usually get everyone up on the dancefloor. When you start catering and playing to a specific genre then that is when you lose numbers on the dancefloor. For example a few weekends ago one of our grooms really wanted to dance to RnB and because he was the client our Melbourne DJ played to his particular requests. However there were a lot of older family members who wanted to have a dance too and ended up not going onto the dancefloor because they didn’t know the songs.
If there is a particular genre that the client prefers, our Melbourne Djs will play the songs on their songlist but we will also add the popular songs in that genre. For example if the client likes RNB we might also play Whitney Houston ‘I Wanna Dance with Somebody’ or Beyonces ‘Crazy in Love’. If it is a 21st Birthday and the client would like pop songs we can still add in ‘Dancing Queen’ and a remix of ‘Gimme Gimme Gimme.’When it comes to what songs to request, it is definitely important to have the songs that the client likes on the list, but it is also important to have a mix of genres on the playlist because when the guests see a full dancefloor of people having fun, that would automatically make the rest of the guests want to get up and have a dance.
