Dancefloors – 2022
Closed Dance Floors
With the rising cases in Victoria, the government has yet again introduced more restrictions to our industry to slow the spread. A mask mandate was introduced a few weeks ago to slow the spread of the virus and then they introduced the 1 person for 2 square metre rule. Just a couple of days ago pubs and bars will now have to close their dance floors. Melbourne DJ Hire were worried that this new rule would lead to a rise in cancellations and postponements for our events, but luckily enough, dance floors at weddings are still being permitted.
This was a great decision made by the government. Couples have had such a stressful couple of years and every time new restrictions are brought in, couples worry that they may have to cancel their weddings. Melbourne DJ Hire have had one couple postpone their wedding 3 times and they have finally booked in to get married in March, so hopefully that will still go ahead.
Closed dance floors are bad news to the party industry and especially to Melbourne DJs. There is little point hiring a Melbourne Dj to play dance tracks at a party if people cannot dance. In our opinion, if masks are mandatory indoors, then patrons can still dance with their masks on and there can be security at the venue to enforce these rules if guests do not comply.
So if you have a wedding coming up then the chances of you having to reschedule are slim but for all the other events like birthday parties, engagements and smaller celebrations those events might have to postpone until the cases settle down. Melbourne DJ Hire are really looking forward a busy couple of months when restrictions ease, there are a number of different events that are postponing and Melbourne Dj Hire yet again have a backlog of events.
