The client had requested for a quote for a Melbourne Dj to play at her engagement party but only ended up hiring a photographer and photobooth. While the party had a great time in the photobooth and got to take home some great mementos, the dance floor was a little empty at times. The reason why the clients didn’t book at Melbourne DJ was because they wanted to save costs and play iPod music instead.
Playing ipod music at a party can be a bit of a hit and miss, you could have a perfect song list full of upbeat dance hits, but you need to know when to play these tracks. For example, the groom was from a Spanish background and when some Latin music was played there was a big group of people on the dance floor dancing to the fast paced Latin music. But after that song had finished a guest had changed the song to Aqua’s 90’s song, Dr Jones. It had no flow, and while a handful of guests stayed on the dance floor a lot of people walked off the dance floor and requested that the groom play more Latin music.
A better transition song for a popular Spanish track to an English track could have been another Spanish song with English lyrics, something like Jennifer Lopez or Justin Beiber’s Despacito. Melbourne DJ hire would never recommend a party with iPod music because there is no one in control of the music, guests can go up and change a song in the middle of the track when you have a number of people on the dance floor enjoying the music. There is also no transition or flow between the songs, so when one song stops, the second song comes in and there is usually a long pause in between with some awkward silence on the dance floor.
If you are planning an event and are tight on budget, a Melbourne DJ is a contractor you cannot save money on. Instead of hiring a photobooth and a photographer, you could just hire one of those suppliers to capture photos of your guests. Or instead of spending on party decor like flower decorations or a balloon garlands, just organise something simpler. So you have more room in your budget for a Melbourne DJ to keep people dancing and having a great time at your party.
