Victoria’s Second Outbreak
The last couple of weeks has been a really difficult time for Victorians, we saw the Covid 19 infection numbers go into the 20s and now over the last few days the numbers have been in the 70s to 100s. Certain postcodes have been lockdown and residents within those areas can only leave their homes for 4 reasons, providing care, shopping for essentials, exercise or for work. So what does Victoria’s second outbreak mean for the rest of us? Residents who are not in those hotspots can still carrying on with their day to day activities like shopping, going to the park and meeting up with friends and family. But Victoria’s second outbreak has put a hold on the hospitality and entertainment industry and has stopped them from moving forward.
Melbourne Dj Hire were ready to start working at the smaller events. Events of under 50 people had started coming through in May and June when the Covid numbers were under 5 cases a day, families were planning parties at the homes, and smaller events like weddings and engagements were getting booked at venues. Then once the Premier announced that he was holding off on lifting the number of patrons per venue to 50, Melbourne Dj Hire’s clients then had to reschedule their events.
We are now at the start of July and we seem to be at the peak of Victoria’s second outbreak with over 100 cases yesterday and over 70 cases today. It seems like Melbourne DJ Hire and the rest of the industry will have to be patient once more and ride out this difficult time. We have spoken to a lot of our peers in the industry and a lot of Melbourne Djs, photographers and entertainers have started looking for casual work, some are in factories, some have purchased equipment to start new business ventures. We all must find ways to keep ourselves busy because it doesn’t look like things will be getting easier anytime in the next 2 months.
