Last Wedding – Covid-19
Melbourne Dj hire were hired to provide a Melbourne DJ and a photobooth on Sunday the 22nd of March 2020. That afternoon the government issued a statement that required a complete shutdown of non essential services to slow down the spread of COVID-19. It was very apparent that the wedding we were at would be one of the last weddings, that Australia was going to have for a very long time.
The last wedding before the potential lock down did have a very tense vibe, people were spaced out all over the venue because of the new social distancing laws and a lot of guests had already called the bride and groom to cancel their attendance due to the Coronavirus. There were a lot of guests who also left the wedding very early, even before desserts had come out. The wedding started with 60 people and then after mains it dwindled down to around 40 people. The dance floor was full with close family members making the most of the celebration and the music that our Melbourne DJ was playing. But in the end the function did finish half an hour ahead of the scheduled time due to the drop in numbers.
Our photobooth was quite a hit on the night. Guests thoroughly enjoyed taking photos with each other and because the guest list was so small, the bride and groom really got to take a lot of photos with their close family and friends. The bride and groom also took 3 separate sessions and the bride even took a photo by herself in the booth. At a usual wedding, our attendants have to remind the bride and groom to take photos as they are so busy chatting with guests and are on a strict timeline to get their cake cut, first dance and speeches done.
The last wedding was an interesting job for Melbourne DJ Hire to work at. Seeing a high number to guests cancel, and how spaced out the room was, it didn’t seem like much of a party. Hopefully the coronavirus crisis will be over in a few months and be can bring back some normality and party properly.
