Weddings During Covid
As you can imagine, the last year and a half has been extremely difficult for couples who have decided to get married. There were a number of bride and grooms who had to postpone their weddings last year and just when we thought our country had overcome covid, there has been a recent outbreak effecting Victoria, Sydney and Melbourne.
Last year we had a few couples who had to postpone their wedding twice, once in April then one more time during the September lockdowns. After the year Melbourne DJ Hire and the entertainment industry had in 2020, we were all looking forward to getting back out and working again but in February there was another snap lockdown during the Valentine’s Day lockdown. For one of our couples it was the third time they had postponed their wedding.
Weddings during Covid are incredibly stressful. Every time there is an outbreak bride and grooms are faced with the difficult decision on whether to postpone their wedding or take the risk to wait it out. It is a risk to postpone your wedding 1 or 2 weeks before the actual date as some contractors need to start ordering the items in order to deliver the pieces on the day of the wedding. Suppliers like florists, cake makers and caterers all need to organise the goods a couple of days before the event and the last couple of lockdowns were announced on Thursday and Friday so the bride and grooms had no choice but to be out of pocket for those suppliers.
Entertainment hire like Melbourne Djs, musicians and photographers can be easily rescheduled and there will not be any costs involved to move the date. The main issue that couple are having with weddings during covid is that their band, Melbourne DJ or photographer have a clash in dates due to all the rescheduling. Melbourne Dj Hire have a large group of wedding Djs and photographers we use for bookings so it is very unlikely that we will be fully booked. But it is always best to lock in a Dj or photographer as soon as you have your date set.
