Chinese Banquet – Dj Hire
Melbourne Dj hire get invited to a lot of different weddings and a lot of different cultural weddings. Just last weekend one of our Melbourne Djs played at a Chinese wedding. Chinese weddings are usually quite tame and proper with a majority of the guests being family and family friends. The one thing that stuck out at this wedding was the indulgent Chinese banquet.
Our lucky Melbourne Dj was served a total of 8 course in this Chinese banquet. 8 being a lucky number for the Chinese as it represents fortune or wealth. Shark fin soup, quail, lobster, abalone, fish and much much more were served, leaving not a lot of room for dessert or dancing.
There are two popular caterers in the Chinese community who provide these lavish banquets. One is Crystal Palace and the other is Vi’s Classic Catering. Melbourne Dj hire have sampled both menus and they are both delicious and sure to please and impress your guests.
We have noticed that at these Chinese banquets lobster is usually on the menu. Maybe because it is a very expensive ingredient and it could be to impress the guests or we heard the red in the cooked lobster shell symbolises good luck to the newlyweds.
At one Chinese wedding our Melbourne Dj saw that there was too much food served and a lot of it wasn’t getting eaten. We then asked the father of the bride why he ordered so much food for the guests as at Western weddings they only serve 3 courses. He told us that in Chinese culture, the lavish wedding banquet is a symbol of good luck and prosperity. The tradition is to throw large fancy celebration, then that usually means the bride and groom will also be prosperous in their married life.
